WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS

This is the Western Voice of Audubon for Monday November 2, 2009

In Hadley there were 2 CACKLING GEESE, a GADWALL, a GOLDEN PLOVER, a 
SHORT-EARED OWL, 2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS, a SNOW BUNTING, 7 WHITE-CROWNED 
SPARROWS, 45 AMERICAN PIPITS, and a PALM WARBLER.

At Quabbin Park there were 3 LESSER SCAUP, 3 SURF SCOTERS, a 
WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, a LONG-TAILED DUCK, 7 BUFFLEHEAD, 2 COMMON LOONS, 
an EASTERN PHOEBE, and an AMERICAN PIPIT.

A CACKLING GOOSE was in Egremont, 2 LONG-TAILED DUCKS on Richmond 
Pond, a BRANT at Onota Lake, and 2 GADWALL at Pontoosuc Reservoir.

The Berkshire Lakes also produced 9 COMMON LOONS, a COMMON GOLDENEYE, 
10 WOOD DUCKS, 600 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 5 RUDDY DUCKS, 5 PIED-BILLED 
GREBES, an OSPREY, and a KILLDEER.

In Granville there were a GOSHAWK, a GOLDEN EAGLE, a RUBY-CROWNED 
KINGLET, a FOX SPARROW, and 2 SNOW BUNTINGS.

In Northampton there were 100 HORNED LARKS, 100 AMERICAN PIPITS and 3 
SNOW BUNTINGS and at Ashley Ponds, Holyoke there were 8 RED-NECKED 
GREBES, 3 PIED-BILLED GREBES, and 36 WOOD DUCKS.
